Boka Kotorska (in Italian bocche meaning “mouth”) is a region surrounding one of the grandest natural features of east Adriatic-the Gulf of Kotor, a series of four bays penetrating 25 km of inland. The names of the bays are the Bay of Kotor, Bay of Risan, Bay of Herceg Novi, and Bay of Tivat. If you want to know the places, history, and natural beauty of those magnificent bays (guests will see all 4 of them), which enable staying longer in the cities of PerastHerceg Novi, and Tivat we recommend this tour. It has a very relaxed easy driving schedule with many breaks. Morning in Perast, early afternoon in Herceg Novi, and sunset in Porto Montenegro will leave you breathless. Welcome!

Perast 10

WHEN AND WHERE WILL WE START?

The tour starts at 8:00 am from Budva. The next pick-up is in the city of Kotor. From Kotor to Budva is only a 25 km distance. In the off-season, we need 25 minutes of the ride between the cities, but in the very high season, we need 45 minutes which is written in our itinerary. If guests take the private tour we will pick up them from their accommodations.

The departure point in Kotor is from the ECO PETROL gas station next to the main bus station.
The departure point in Budva is from the ECO PETROL gas station next to the hotel Slovenska Plaža

NOTE: The temperature in the summer season can be very high, above 40 degrees, so pay attention to protect your body with adequate clothes, skin with sun cream, and head with a hat. Always have enough water.

 WHERE WE WILL GO?

We will go to Perast, Lady of the Rock, the city of Herceg Novi, and Porto Montenegro in the city of Tivat.

PERAST

Perast 12

Perast is a beautiful small town of 220 inhabitants belonging to the municipality of Kotor and has been a UNESCO World Heritage since 1979. In its impressive history, Perast was known as the center of the Boka Kotorska navy, which still exists symbolically. Nowadays Perast is the tourist center of Boka Kotorska Bay, which still preserved the dignity of a peaceful town where the spirit of the past truly felt and looks like time stopped there.

Perast 09

Traffic in the city is closed in the summer which makes tourists can safely enjoy sightseeing. We will walk through the main street and see the St. Nicholas church with its belfry, the town square, the Maritime Museum, and the main street where traditional palaces and churches from the 16th-18th century still kept their authentic looks. Usually, we visit Lady of the Rocks first and then we walk around the city of Perast.

LADY OF THE ROCKS (GOSPA OD ŠKRPJELA)

Perast 05

Tourists are always fascinated by the beauty of the two small islands in front of the city. There is a church on each island. St.George is closed, while the man-made islet the Lady of The Rocks is open to visitors. We will go to the island on a short boat ride where we will stay for up to 40 minutes.
m wm perast 007
Guests will be able to visit the interior of the lovely baroque church from the 17th of the century as well as a small church museum with artifacts from Roman imperial, medieval times, and nowadays. Artifacts show very unique silver plates given to the church by local people for centuries, as well as utensils, household items, navigation instruments, weapons, handmade embroidery, and paintings. Also, guests will have enough time to take wonderful photos of every corner of the island.

HERCEG NOVI
m DSC 7315 001
After visiting Perast, we are going to Herceg Novi. The ride lasts for a maximum of 60 minutes. Herceg Novi has more than 260 sunny days throughout the year. It has a beautiful old town with a lot of stairs, green gardens, and beautiful squares with amazing views from the entrance of the Bay of Boka. The old town doesn't have city walls. Instead of that, there are 3 fortresses: Spanjola, Kanli Kula, and Forte Mare. Herceg Novi was founded in 1382 by King Tvrtko of Bosnia who granted it wide privileges with his intention to turn it into a trading port, which would rid Bosnia of its dependence on the Dubrovnik merchants who controlled almost all of the Bosnian trade.
m DSC 5679 001
The town was originally known as Sveti Stjepan (St. Stevan) after the protector saint of the King’s dynasty but was referred to by locals (and still is) simply as Novi (New Town). The old town is connected with the promenade and waterfront by stairs so we will split our visit into two parts. First, we will visit the main squares and attractions in the old town and then we will slowly go down to the promenade where we will have a lunch break in the shade of magnolias and linden trees.
m DSC 5345 001
The atmosphere in Herceg Novi is always relaxing and extremely pleasant even in the high season. With a lot of greenery gardens and parks, with a view of the entrance of Boka Bay, and peninsula Lustica, with a line of charming small restaurants around the old train station next to the swimming pool of water-polo club Jadran (almost 100 years old) and 6 km long lovely promenade, visit of Herceg Novi is more than pleasant experience.

TIVAT AND PORTO MONTENEGRO
m DSC 0542 001
After Herceg Novi, we will take a ferry, then cross the bay and continue to Tivat. This is the only town on the Montenegrin coast that doesn’t have the old town and city walls, but has a beautiful promenade with one of the symbols of the Montenegrin maritime tradition which is a school sailboat "Jadran". The quiet and relaxing atmosphere is the key to the popularity of Tivat, which attracts investors from all over the world who have created the biggest luxury marina for mega-yachts and yachts in the Adriatic Sea, named Porto Montenegro.
m DSC 4430 001

Porto Montenegro complex started construction in 2006 and will be fully completed in the next five years. To date, numerous tourist buildings, apartments, the luxury hotel Regent, pool clubs, luxury shops, restaurants, cafe bars, and the Maritime Museum with two submarines from the Yugoslav period have been built here. The prices of food and drinks in restaurants are affordable, so we can freely say that this is an ideal place to end our tour. With a light dessert or a glass of good wine, you can enjoy the sunset in the beautifully decorated resort where there are no traffic jams or tourist crowds.

m DSC 6948 001

We depart from Tivat no later than 17:00, and then we slowly return guests first to Kotor and then to Budva. Our visit to Kotor Boka Bay will present a wonderful experience that guests will remember for a long time.
